I would love to see an option to record parent communications within the system that will allow an RBT/BCBA/Admin staff to enter in communication from a parent (updates, phone calls, emails, texts, etc.) into each client's chart.
Also could be included in the log would outside communications about the client with collaborative partners (pediatrician, ST/OT/PT, therapists/counselors, teachers, etc.) where this information could be stored in one place for documentation purposes.
It should include a way to attach a copy of the communication (a pdf of the email, if by email; a screenshot of the text message; etc.) if there is an attachment that is relevant to the specific conversation/communication.
It should include a date and time of the communication, who the person was that was communicated with (if parent (then their name), if collaborative partner then it would be their name and their credentials), who the staff person was that had the communication, and any notes about the communication (including the staff person's response to the communication or what the staff person said (if verbal and not email) - or a general summary of the communication.
It should also have a priority ranking - this is because if this is something that needs to have a higher priority (such as a new allergy was reported) then it needs to be ranked higher and it could be flagged as more important or if they are getting surgery or even taking a vacation. The priority ranking could trigger a bcba / supervisor review.
It should also have a subject area sorting section (I.e. medical, school, general information, general update, etc. - these can be determined by the clinic using the log and can be edited to be added or removed later).
Finally it should also record who entered the note/log (as it may be different than the person who had the communication) and if a follow up is needed regarding the communication. If a follow up is needed, then it can have a follow up date that can be entered (ideally, this will pop on the clients home page for the follow up on the follow up date, but only if entered).
