When audited by insurance or accreditation committees being able to turn on an auditor permission for them would allow them to access critical information without having to pull data out of the platform to provide for audits.

This is a great feature request! You can set up a custom user role and name it "Auditor" within the user privileges. 
I would recommend testing this out to make sure you have the appropriate privileges turned on prior to adding the auditor to your organization.
